Australia has reached a major milestone with the number of residential solar systems installed across the country surpassing 1 million.
Figures from the Clean Energy Regulator indicate that as of March 2013, over a million homes had been equipped with solar power panels on their roofs, providing power to around 2.5 million Australians. This has provided savings on electricity bills amounting to approximately ½ billion dollars.
The solar industry’s growth has surged in tandem with increasing demand, and Clean Energy Council chief executive David Green hopes solar panels will become characteristic features of Australian households in the near future.
