Local company installing Australia’s biggest floating solar system

Newton, South Australia – November 2017

Australian award-winning solar company Suntrix commenced ground-breaking construction last week on a 99 kilowatt floating solar system at the East Lismore Sewage Treatment Plant in New South Wales.

Chief Project Officer at Suntrix, Geoff Fussell, was at the site last week to oversee the solar island being constructed and towed to its location on the treatment plant’s overflow pond.

Geoff says, “This project typifies what Suntrix enjoys the most – partnering with our clients to deliver high yield, bespoke solar solutions. We are delighted to be helping Lismore City Council to achieve its target of generating all its electricity from renewable sources by 2023”.

The solution frees up land, and instead utilises bodies of water to optimise the harnessing of solar energy whilst at the same time reducing water evaporation.

Co-Founder and Managing Director, Jenny Paradiso is pleased that Suntrix was chosen to tender this interstate project. “It is really exciting to see an SA company once again being recognised on a national scale. It’s also great to see just how far Suntrix has come in 8 years; from a kitchen table start-up to working on large innovative commercial projects nationally”.
