You have taken a great step by investing in solar energy for your home or business. It’s working hard every day to provide you with clean, green energy and reduce your electricity costs. To ensure these savings continue throughout the life of your system, the Clean Energy Council recommends regular maintenance to keep your solar power system in peak condition.
Think of your solar energy system as you would your car. Yes it will probably continue to work without a regular service, however it will run better and more efficiently, with fewer costly surprises if you have it regularly serviced and maintained. Solar systems are at the mercy of the elements 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, leaving them vulnerable to any number of issues and faults, such as loose cables and chewed-through wires.
An annual system check for home owners and bi-annual checks for business systems will ensure that issues like this are managed swiftly or prevented all together. The total cost for a system check is $154 including our call out fee.
A Suntrix 19 point System Maintenance check includes the following:
- Inverter system readings
- Inspection of Inverter mounting
- Inspection of rooftop panel mountings
- Inspection of rooftop panel condition and cleanliness
- Visual inspection for pest damage
- Check all rooftop connections and voltages
- Manual check of all breakers, isolators and fuses
On completion of your System Maintenance Check we will provide you with a clear report on the health of your system so you can rest assured that everything is working as it should be. And if we have found any faults or issues, we will work with you to repair your system as quickly as possible.
Rain water does a good job keeping your panels relatively clean over winter, however we find that rain alone will not remove all the dirt and grime that builds up on your panels each year. So we recommend you have a professional panel clean annually to get rid of the grime that can’t be moved by rain alone. Normal household cleaning products can be too harsh on solar panels and working on the roof can be a risk, so let us take care of your panels and ensure your safety by having your panels cleaned by one of our highly skilled technicians. Beware of inexperienced non-solar companies offering to clean your panels. There are a number of ways you can inadvertently damage your panels and void your warranty, simply by letting unqualified people on your roof – e.g. not only do you need to be careful with the detergents used on the panels, but even throwing cold water on a hot panel that’s been sitting in the sun could also cause damage.
